Al Carnrite
Managing Director
Alan “Al” Carnrite is a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal’s Energy Practice in Houston. During a transition period to integrate Carnrite Group into Alvarez and Marsal, Al will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Carnrite Group, which he founded in 1991. Al has over 40 years of experience and is an advisor to executive leadership in the energy and industrial sectors, as well as private equity. His specialties include corporate strategy, turnarounds, business transformation, and operational improvement. Al has led and provided executive oversight to projects on six continents, with clients including integrated energy companies, independent exploration and production companies, energy service companies, manufacturers, global consumer products companies, and several of the world’s largest private equity groups.
In addition to founding Carnrite Group, Al held senior leadership positions in consulting, industry, and finance, including Senior Managing Director at Randall & Dewey, later acquired by multinational investment bank Jefferies; Chief Executive Officer of Trinity River Energy, an independent E&P company with assets in several US onshore basins; CEO of Epic Integrated Services, an electrical and automation company; and CEO of Sterling Consulting Group. Al began his career at PetroCanada, where he led the upstream component of its privatization. Al continues to sit on Carnrite Ventures’ investment committee and the advisory boards of several of its portfolio companies.
